Instructing in Clubs

The majority of Judo done in the west, is done in clubs, in Japan the majority is in schools. So making sure that clubs are well instructed is essential for the further progression of the students in the club and for the growth of Judo generally.

Here in the UK something in the range of 75% of club members are children, so being able to teach children is vital to a club. Instructors need to be aware of all the issues related to teaching children, both legal ones and those more directly related to learning

For example, childrens attention spans are much shorter than adults and they also need to have more fun, so your session need to be broken into small "chunks" on learning spaced between fun and games. I shall be adding more information to this section of the site over the coming weeks and months on these sorts of issues.

I have taught in many many clubs both regularly and as a guest, I am always happy to visit clubs and add some variety.
